Joseph Weinzettle's paintings and drawings explore Florida environments. His work is shaped by changing light, open space and atmosphere. The panels are completed en plein air (painted outdoors) in Pinellas County, Florida. Many of the sites are small tracts of nature adjacent to utility towers, commercial and residential development. He works months, sometimes years on panels, building up drawn and painted layers. The materials include silverpoint, natural red chalk, bamboo brush and ink, stand oils on chalk gesso and oil primed grounds.
